Brandon Truter’s advice to Kaizer Chiefs
Despite dampening Kaizer Chiefs’ 53rd birthday celebrations, Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter says he is impressed by the youthful talent in the Soweto giants’ ranks.
The former Swallows and AmaZulu coach opines that the likes of Kgaogelo Sekgota can help Chiefs end their DStv Premiership title drought but on one condition.
The 53-year-old coach said Arthur Zwane and the club leadership must be patient with the youthful players as they hold what could probably be the solution to end Mamelodi Sundowns’ dominance.
“I think Kaizer Chiefs have the best talent and potential in South Africa. There are some interesting young talents, such as Sekgota [Kgaogelo], who came back from Portugal.
“If Kaizer Chiefs is patient, they will close the gap between Sundowns and the rest of us. I admire the talent that is here,” Truter said.
BRANDON TRUTER’S ADVICE TO KAIZER CHIEFS
It, however, remains to be seen if the highly rated youngsters live up to their billing.
While Truter singled out Sekgota, Kaizer Chiefs have the likes of Siyabonga Ngezana, Nkosingiphile Ngcobo, Happy Mashiane, and Sabelo Radebe, who are highly rated.
A lot is also expected from new recent recruits that include Mduduzi Shabalala, Mfundo Vilakazi, Samkelo Zwane and Wandile Duba.
Following the loss, Chiefs remained fixated on 4th place with 24 points on their tally, exactly 13 points behind Sundowns, who lead the perk.
Brandon Truter, however, is walking with springs on his step as his life at Sekhukhune United continues to blossom.
The latest 1-0 win over Kaizer Chiefs in a DStv Premiership encounter played on Saturday, his second win on the trot, undoubtedly gave Truter some respite.
The win, though, spoiled what were meant to be memorable birthday celebrations for one of the country’s biggest clubs, Kaizer Chiefs.
Vusi Mncube was the hero after scoring the only goal that Sekhukune United needed to collect maximum points and move to 10th position on the log standings.
And Truter is happy with how the team has fared since his appointment as head coach.
“It’s still a work in progress, but I’m happy with the efforts. The guys stuck to the plan, and we had to manage it. We now look forward to the next match,” he added.
