Burundian forward arrives at Naturena to complete move

Burundian striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana has just arrived at the Kaizer Chiefs Village in Naturena to complete his two-year [plus one] deal. He arrived at Naturena accompanied by his representative

Bimenyimana arrived in Johannesburg aboard a Rwandair flight in the early hours of Thursday.

FARPost can confirm that the two parties agreed on a two-year contract with an option of one early this week. He is expected to do his medical with his unveiling set to follow.

The Burundi international, who had a trial with Chiefs in July, left the country with indications that the club would not sign him.

However, Amakhosi recently made a U-turn, engaging the 24-year-old and concluding the deal.

Under Arthur Zwane, Amakhosi have not started the league too well after succumbing to an embarrassing 4-0 defeat on Saturday against Mamelodi Sundowns.

They had lost their opening game to Royal AM away in Durban before beating Maritzburg United 3-0 at home.

Zwane has had to play without a traditional number nine, a position they have admitted they need to fill. Surprisingly, the club had said he does not possess the profile of a striker they are searching for.

Here’s what Zwane told the media about him recently.

“Look, he has done well, to be quite honest. We are still undecided as to whether we are going to bring him on or if we are still looking because we are looking for a certain type of striker with the way we want to play and the way we are going to play in future.

“We can’t just have someone who will sit inside the box. Yes, he is very mobile, and he is comfortable on the ball, but we are looking at other qualities as well. If we can get one better than him, then we might go for that. But at the moment, there is no one better than him while we are still looking. I think the league has also given us the opportunity to extend the deadline [for the transfer window], so we will capitalise on that. We will keep hunting until we find one,” Zwane said.
