BREAKING NEWS: SuperSport United sign Zakhele Lepasa
Orlando Pirates have confirmed the loan move of forward Zakhele Lepasa to SuperSport United on the transfer deadline day.
The striker will join the Tshwane-based outfit on loan for the rest of the season.
This comes after SuperSport goalscorer Thamsanqa Gabuza is heavily linked with a move to Stellenbosch FC.
Lepasa becomes the club’s second signing this transfer window period after the acquisition of Senegalese international striker Serigne Mamour Niang on a one-and-a-half year deal with an option to renew.
ZAKHELE LEPASA WILL BE HOPING FOR MORE GAME TIME AT SUPERSPORT UNITED
The 25-year-old frontman hasn’t been getting enough playing time despite starting the season on a front foot under the tutelage of Jose Riveiro.
With Pirates having recently completed the signing of Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou, it was only fair for the club to loan Lepasa in order for him to get some game time at his new side.
In the current season, Lepasa has made 13 appearances across all competitions for the Buccaneers and only managed to score one goal in the process.
At the beginning of the season, Lepasa had stolen the heart of the Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos with stellar performances which saw him earning a call-up to the national team.
ZALHELE LEPASA SENT OUT ON FOR THE THIRD TIME
This will be for the third time Lepasa being sent out on loan by the Soweto giants.
He previously had stints with Stellies and TS Galaxy on loan respectively.
Lepasa is well-known for stealing the show when scored the only goal of the 2019 Nedbank Cup final from a spot kick against Kaizer Chiefs.
That victory made the Rockets the first team from National First Division to clinch the Nedbank Cup title.
In that term, he scored nine goals in 15 games for the Mpumalanga-based outfit.
Lepasa will be hoping to win the heart of his new mentor Gavin Hunt and break into the Matsatsantsa starting eleven, as the club continue their quest to finish in the top two come the end of the season.
