Cape Town City confirm signing of ex-Kaizer Chiefs defender
As reported by FARPost a week ago, Cape Town City have confirmed the acquisition of former Kaizer Chiefs defender, Lorenzo Gordinho.
This comes after the 28-year-old footballer parted ways with Danish second-tier side, HB Koge.
Gordinho joins the Cape club on a three-year deal.
According to the Citizens’ statement, the centre-back will be eligible to play for the club from the 1st of January 2023.
The talented defender has since spoken for the first time as the City player expressing how he can’t wait to get started at his new club and help the side to reach the promised land.
LORENZO GORDINHO SPEAKS FOR THE FIRST TIME AS A CITY PLAYER…
“Before returning here [South Africa] I was at another club in Denmark called HB Koge. During my stay there I got a different perspective of football being a local South African-born playing in a foreign country,” Gordinho said in a short video of his unveiling.
“I learnt a lot about adaptation and professionalism, to be always professional no matter the circumstances as you have to face yourself in and there are so many things you have to adapt to and that is what kept me going.
“This opportunity came for me to come back to Cape Town City. The way they run the team and the players they have and the foundations there for the club, the team is in a good space.”
WHAT LORENZO GORDINHO AIMS TO ACHIEVE
Gordinho went on to reveal his goals upon joining the Citizens and insists that he is going to push himself even further.
“My biggest ambition is to help the team as much as possible to reach its projected goals for the season. I think that is the most important thing,” he added.
