Carling Black Label Cup roars to life
The Carling Black Label Cup voting polls closed on Monday evening after weeks of voting.
The final four teams that qualified for the competition are Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates, reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns and KZN outfit AmaZulu.
Kaizer Chiefs came out on top, as they recorded 490 376 votes. Rivals Orlando Pirates were second on the list with 354 472 votes.
Mamelodi Sundowns were the 3rd highest on the list with 171 717 votes.
There were changes in the 4th placed, AmaZulu replaced Swallows FC who have been in the position for quite some time.
Usuthu recorded 144 829 votes, whilst the Dube Birds had 112 258 votes.\
BLACK LABEL’S MESSAGE TO FANS
Carling Black Label Brand Director Arne Rust sent a message thanking all the fans who voted for their respective teams to participate in the competition.
“We would like to send a Champion shout-out to the fans of all 16 PSL teams,” said Rust.
“The participation in this year’s Cup has been great.
“We responded to the voices of all football fans, and they in turn responded with their support and look forward to the next part of this exciting Champion Coach journey, where the fans will select their starting line-up.
“And then the team Captain which we know has been a fan-favorite since it was introduced.
After the voting lines were closed and teams were confirmed, a draw was conducted.
Masandawana will take on AmaZulu in the first semi final.
Then Soweto giants Amakhosi and Pirates renew rivalry in the second semi final.
The once-off, one day tournament kicks off at FNB Stadium on November 12th.

The two teams emerging victorious in the semi-finals will then play in the final which will kickoff at 5pm.
