‘Cassius Mailula deserves Bafana Bafana dance:’ Mashego
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mashego believes the club’s scoring sensation Cassius Mailula deserves to play in the national team.
The 21-year-old has settled in well with the Tshwane giants in his debut season. He has become a reliable goal scorer under coach Rulani Mokwena.
In the league, Mailula has found the back of the net four times and provided one assist in five matches so far. His latest goal came in the 2-0 win over Orlando Pirates on Friday afternoon.
On the other hand, Bafana Bafana are struggling in the final third as they are short in scoring goals.
WHY CASSIUS MAILULA DESERVES TO PLAY IN THE NATIONAL TEAM
“It’s never too early for anything. He’s playing and scoring for Sundowns. Why can’t he do the same for the national team?” Mashego told FARPost.
“I’m sure he can do that, he should just be ready for the opportunity, and we shouldn’t put too much pressure on the young boy.
“If he playing and scoring for Sundowns, it means he’s old enough to take that kind of pressure.
Mashego further believes Mailula will be given a chance to play in the CAF Champions League when the tournament resumes in February.
“He’s doing it for Sundowns. Sundowns is a big team. I’m sure he’s going to play in the Champions League. I think he’s more than ready,” he added.
