Chiefs’ Bobby Motaung explains why he is ‘quiet’

Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung insists there is nothing untoward about him playing a ‘behind the scenes role’ since the start of the current season.

Motaung hasn’t been as visible as usual since the appointment of the sporting director and younger brother, Kaizer Motaung Junior.

The amended structure at Chiefs includes Kaizer Jr as the sporting director, Molefi Ntseki as head of technical and youth development academy and Bobby as football manager.

Speaking to Thabiso Mosia on the SA FM Sports show, Spot on, on Tuesday Motaung said there was nothing sinister.

“Obviously the communications department has been beefed up and also I have my sporting director now my younger brother, Kaizer Jr. so we can’t all be talking, we have to give directives,” said Motaung answering to listeners who had raised their concerns on why he has been quiet.

“The coaches have been talking so sometimes you come at the right time to say something. There’s nothing untoward, there’s nothing much if the communications department is doing the communication and obviously the sporting director also gives his views.

“Like I said, the sporting director also gives his views because we talk. The technical things, player movements and updates on the coaches.

“So, things change my brother, we climb the ladder. Not that I am quiet because of anything I think it’s just the communication in terms of who has been communicating, giving messages to you. But I am here, I am here for life. Khosi for Life.”’

Motaung has also assured their supporters that they intend to fight for everything on offer this season.

“We have the right personnel. We just need time. Like I said every game has its own dynamics but we will challenge for everything that’s on the table, we will challenge for everything.

“This season is a season where we say we want to challenge; we want to contest. If there is a Cup available, we need to fight for the cup. If there is a league available, we will challenge for the league,” he said.
