Chiefs coach Zwane explains why he’s unfazed by Bimenyimana’s injury

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Arthur Zwane has explained why he’s not concerned about Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana’s injury.

The Burundi international, Bimenyimana was taken off after suffering an injury in the latter part of the DStv Premiership game against Lamontville Golden Arrows at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.

Bimenyimana got his name on the scoresheet along with Edmilson Dove to ensure that Chiefs grab maximum points away from home in their first game post the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It’s still unknown how bad the lanky striker’s injury is.

However, Arthur Zwane says if the 25-year-old sits out in their upcoming games, the young forward Wandile Duba is ready for the goal-scoring task.

ARTHUR ZWANE NOT WORRIED ABOUT BIMENYIMANA’S INJURY

“I’m not worried about his injury right now,” said Zwane when asked in the press conference after the match at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

“If he’s injured, we will play the young man Wandi [Duba], he’s got the potential to score goals.

“So we have no fear as you could have seen when he went in there, he showed a lot of fearless but obviously football is a game of mistakes.

“He made mistakes here and there, make no mistake, he’s a top class player, he’s going places that young man.

“So, I don’t have a worry. Mduduzi [Shabalala] also came in, so we’ll improvise, we’ll come up with a plan.”

Chiefs’ gaffer went on to express his satisfaction over Bimenyimana’s contribution since he was signed at the beginning of the season.

The lanky striker, Bimenyimana, has found the back of the net on seven occasions after featuring in eight games across all competitions for the Soweto giants.

‘I’M HAPPY FOR HIM’

“I’m happy for him this is what the striker is supposed to do,” Arthur Zwane added.

“The game today has evolved, where we no longer play with sitting strikers who are always waiting. 

“You have to get players that can break the lines, open spaces for others to exploit the space.

“But also very good in holding the ball, knowing when to turn and how to lay the ball to others to finish.

“I think he scored a great goal from great movement, that’s what he usually [does] and we want to perfect it, we want to polish it and be better.

“I’m happy for him and I’m happy for other players who also helped him to play well.

“For me, the overall performance of Caleb today [Saturday] was good though as a striker, I expected more.”
