Kaizer Chiefs trialist who went missing joins Marumo Gallants

Ivorian defender Olivier Toure, who was once a trialist at Kaizer Chiefs, has been unveiled as a new signing by Marumo Gallants.

Toure was unveiled alongside Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Pule Maraisane, who joins Gallants on a season-long loan.

The 25-year-old, Toure joins from 27 times Côte d’Ivoire Premier Division champions ASEC Mimosas.

Interestingly, Toure was once on trial at Kaizer Chiefs in 2017 but was reported to have gone missing shortly after a move to the club did not materialise.

Chiefs announced at the time that the player failed to board a plane they had arranged for him to return back to his native country.

“We have notified all the relevant authorities to help establish Toure’s whereabouts,” the club announced at the time.

However, a few days later, Toure was spotted at a Sundowns training camp in Rustenburg. But he failed to impress then head coach Pitso Mosimane.

Meanwhile, Maraisane joins the Limpopo club after struggling to cement game time at the reigning DStv Premiership champions Sundowns.

He has only managed game time on two actions for the reigning DStv Premiership champions. The 27-year-old spent most time on loan at Cape Town All Stars during the 2020/21 season since returning from a spell at Turkish side Cerkezkoy 1911.

Maraisane started his professional career at Portugal side GD Tourizense in 2014. He also had a stint at the Swedish side GAIS. He joins Marumo on a season-long loan for the rest of the 2022/23 season.
