CT City confirms duo’s departure
Cape Town City have confirmed the departure of two players as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
Shane Roberts, who had a loan stint with TS Galaxy after joining in the January transfer window and struggled for game time in the 2021/22 season, will not be part of Eric Tinkler’s team.
Meanwhile, Bongani Mpandle, who joined the Citizens at the beginning of the just-ended season, will leave the club after failing to break into the team.
The former Maritzburg United shot-stopper couldn’t register a single appearance for the Cape Town based-side and was the third choice behind reigning Goalkeeper of the Season in the DStv Premiership Hugo Marques and former Bafana Bafana international Darren Keet.
“Yeah, both players [Shane Roberts and Bongani Mpandle] will not stay with the club; they are both free agents,” Cape Town City chairman John Comitis told FARPost.
The duo will be looking to secure career-saving moves when the transfer window opens on the 1st of July after making a little impact at City under the mentorship of Eric Tinkler.
