Five previous PSL Golden Boot winners: Where are they now?
The 2022/23 DStv Premiership is fast approaching the business end of things with over 20 games played so far in the PSL.
Mamelodi Sundowns foward Peter Shalulile is currently leading the goal scoring charts with nine goals to his name.
He’s followed by his Sundowns teammate Cassius Mailula, Kaizer Chiefs striker Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana, Bradley Grobler of SuperSport United and and Chippa United’s Etiosa Ighodaro.
All the above-mentioned strikers are joint in second place on seven goals apiece while in third place is TS Galaxy’s Djakaridja Traoré with six goals.

2021/22: Peter Shalulile
Shalulile was an integral part of treble-winning Sundowns side under the guidance of co-coaches Rulani Mokwena and Manqoba Mngqithi.
The Namibian international netted 23 goals in the league last season to help Masandawana win all domestic trophies on offer.
Despite spending most of the first half of the season sidelined with an injury, Shalulile has once again proved his lethal goal-scoring acumen; he’s the top scorer with nine goals this season and is still at Sundowns.
2020/21: Bradley Grobler
Grobler beat Shalulile to the Golden Boot by a single goal after finding the back of the net 16 times.
The goal poacher has however, struggled with injuries in the past two years and he has since seen limited game time in the colours of SuperSport.
He recently joined an exclusive club of PSL centurions such as Daniel Mudau, Manuel ‘Tico Tico’ Bucuane, Collins Mbesuma, Siyabonga Nomvethe, Mabhuti Khenyeza.
The veteran striker netted his 100th PSL goal in SuperSport’s 2-0 win over Maritzburg United last Friday.
2019/20: Gabadinho Mhango/Peter Shalulile
Mhango was a joint top goal scorer with Shalulile when he was in the books of Orlando Pirates.
The speedy attacker has since left the Buccaneers to join AmaZulu at the start of the 2022/23 campaign.
2018/19: Mwape Musonda
The Zambian international banged goals for fun at Black Leopards as he managed to score 16 goals in the 2018/19 season.
Leopards were successful in their fight to stay in the top flight during the 2018/19 season but they were later relegated during the 2020/21 season.
Musonda is now in the books of the Dobsonville-based side Swallows, who are just three points away from relegation. The striker also played for Orlando Pirates.
2017/18: Rodney Ramagalela/Percy Tau
Ramagalela and Tau shared the Golden Boot accolade after scoring 11 goals while playing for Polokwane City and Mamelodi Sundowns respectively.
‘Rama G’ as he’s famously known is now plying his trade with the Motsepe Foundation Championship side University of Pretoria (AmaTuks).
While Tau is playing for African giants Al Ahly in the Egyptian Premier League.
