Former Chiefs forward reacts to Gordinho’s move to Cape Town City

Former Kaizer Chiefs forward Matthew Rusike has reacted to Lorenzo Gordinho’s move to Cape Town City.

Gordinho returns to the DStv Premiership to join CT City on a three-year deal from Danish side HB Koge.

The Citizens have been leaky at the back, conceding 13 goals in 13 games played so far in the league this season.

The 28-year centre back could be the answer to City’s defensive frailties.

Gordinho gained prominence in 2013 when he was promoted from the Chiefs youth set up to the first team.

The lanky defender spent six seasons at Chiefs before he was released in 2020.

He joined Bidvest Wits on a free transfer after spending the 2018/19 on loan at Bloemfontein Celtic.

Gordinho’s stay at Milpark was ended abruptly.

This was after Wits sold their top flight status to Tshakuma Tsha Madzivhandila (TTM) on the brink of their centenary celebration.

Rusike, who also had a brief stint with CT City, was at Chiefs when Gordinho was promoted to the senior team in 2013.

The Zimbabwean international has expressed his feelings on Gordinho’s move to the Mother City.

RUSIKE PROUD OF GORDINHO

“Lorenzo Gordinho to Cape Town City. Always proud of you, now to our next journey,” Rusike said in a Tweet.

Eric Tinker’s troops are languishing in 13th place on the Premiership table, a point adrift of the relegation zone.

The 2018 MTN 8 champions have had a poor start to the 2022/23 campaign.

They winning just three games, drawing four and losing in five occasions.

CT City will look to get improved results and climb up the table when the league resumes.

The local action will continue at the end of December after the conclusion of the ongoing 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

CT City will welcome Royal AM on the 30th of December at the Cape Town Stadium with the aim of collecting maximum points.
