Former Sundowns winger Mogakolodi Ngele on fire in Botswana
Former Mamelodi Sundowns winger Mogakolodi Ngele is on fire at Township Rollers FC in the Botswana Premier League.
Mogakolodi Ngele rolled back the hands of time by scoring a brace for Rollers in the 3-1 win over Extension Gunners on Saturday.
He scored in the 35th and 56th minutes before Segolame Boy added the third goal for Rollers, who are affectionately called Popa, at the National Stadium in Gaborone.
Extension Gunners (Ezimnyama) scored the consolation goal through Omphile Vissagie in the 58th minute.
MOGAKOLODI NGELE GETS MAN-OF-MATCH AWARD
Mogakolodi Ngele was deservedly named man-of-the-match for his stand-out performance.
The former Zebras star rejoined Rollers this season after spending over a decade playing in the Premier Soccer League.
Mogakolodi Ngele’s career in the PSL spread among Sundowns, SuperSport United, Platinum Stars and Black Leopards.
Popa coach Thabo Motang told FARPost that Ngele had been a good addition to his squad. Motang said Ngele was proving to be a positive influence in the squad.
“He is not yet there in terms of where we want him to be, but he is getting there,” the coach told FARPost.
“He is such a good influence on the team. The way he conducts himself encourages other players, especially the young ones.”
EXTENSION GUNNERS REDUCED TO 10 MEN
Extension Gunners played for over 60 minutes with one man down after Keagile Kgosipula was shown a straight red card.
The referee penalized Kgosipula for denying Ngele a goal-scoring opportunity. Extension Gunners fought hard in search of a goal in the early stages of the game.
However, Rollers goalkeeper Bophelo Kealeboga kept his side in the game with a number of telling saves. Extension Gunners featured in the starting XI former Rollers players such as Thato Bolweleng, Kobamelo Kebaikanye, and Keagile Kgosipula.
Another former Popa player Ofentse Nato missed the game through an injury. Rollers are in second place on the log table two points behind leaders Jwaneng Galaxy.
