Gallants identify Sundowns weaknesses

Marumo Gallants assistant coach Harris Chueu insists their Nedbank Cup final opponents Mamelodi Sundowns are a strong team but feels they have weaknesses they can exploit on Saturday.

The two clubs will clash for the much-awaited final at Royal Bafokeng Sports Palace in Rustenburg.

Sundowns will be looking for their domestic treble while Gallants will be looking to defend the Cup they won against Chippa United last season.

Speaking during a media briefing held at Sun City ahead of the clash, Chueu, a former Sundowns player, says they have identified how they can match Sundowns on the day.

“Their weak point is that they know they are too big to the extent that when small teams start the ball from the back that’s where you catch them, they ‘gurash’ (Press with high speed).

“They come running; they want to take the ball in our 18-area, so we just invite them to come. That’s where we open them.

“They tell themselves that these guys are too small for us, and we have to keep the ball more. If you make them feel like nothing, they come very angrily, desperate, and that’s where we will catch them.”
