Gallants pursuing Dan Malesela to return

Marumo Gallants are eying their former coach Dan Malesela to take over as head coach following the departure of Frenchman Romain Folz.

The club is yet to officially confirm Folz’s exit but the 32-year-old submitted his resignation prior to their league match against Swallows.

As it was reported by FARPost in early August, Folz expressed his displeasure on how the club conducts their business, during a post-match interview.

“Yes, there are external factors but it’s everywhere. It’s not just here and you have to comply with it and make the most out of it,” he said at the time.

THEY WANT HIM BACK…

The reports about Malesela’s Marumo return first surfaced on SA FM Sports show Sport On, on Monday last week as sources confirmed that there has been an approach made.

“They want him to come back and have reconciled with him after that ugly separation at the end of last season,” a source further told this publication.

According to Malesela at the time, a top official at the club was spreading rumours that he had intended to get involved in match-fixing against one of the clubs fighting relegation at the time. The rumours were never proven at the time.

It is also public knowledge that the former Chippa United and TS Galaxy coach was also shocked at how the club handled his departure at the time.

This is after Gallants did not inform him that they would not be renewing his contract and only for the coach to find out through the media.

FARPost has since established that the Gallants hierarchy are very keen on convincing the 57-year-old for a move to come back to Polokwane. It’s unclear if the move will materialize sooner Malesela still has a contract with Royal AM.

Former Simba FC head coach Pablo Franco Martin (42) is also linked with the job.
