Hlanti calls on Chiefs attackers to ease pressure on Bimenyimana
As Kaizer Chiefs eye their fourth successive league, fullback Sifiso Hlanti has called on the club’s attackers to chip in with goals and ease pressure on Burundian frontman Bonfils-Caleb Bimenyimana.
Bimenyimana has scored six goals in three of Amakhosi’s recent wins, including the hattrick of penalties against Stellenbosch.
However, Hlanti believes that the Glamour Boys have enough arsenal upfront to be over-reliant on their new man.
Their hunt for another set of maximum points sees them clash with Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday.
“I believe that we have good offensive players who can score goals as many as they can,” Hlanti said, adding that there was no need to put pressure on the 24-year-old forward.
Hlanti is wary of Chippa United and has cautioned his teammates that they will be a tricky customer.
In their last five fixtures in the league, they won twice, lost twice and drew once. They have picked two wins on the bounce, claiming the scalps of AmaZulu and Marumo Gallants.
As they take on the Soweto giants, albeit under a new coach Siya Gwambi, they will be buoyed by their 1-0 victory over Orlando Pirates. Of course, that win came under Daine Klate, who was relieved of his duties as a first-team coach on 8 September 2022.
HLANTI ON FACING CHIPPA…
“They are a good side. You can’t take that away from them. But also, we know what needs to be done even though is not going to be an easy game.
“However, we are fully positive and well prepared to go and face Chippa United,” he added.
Currently, Chiefs find themselves in fourth place with 17 points after 10 games, just two points adrift of log leaders Sundowns.
They are under a rebuild, but coach Arthur Zwane admitted they needed to “grind results” as they assemble a team for the future.
