Hotto disagrees with Ncikazi on title race

Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto and co-head coach Mandla Ncikazi are not on the same page regarding the DStv Premiership title race.

Hotto is optimistic that Pirates can catch runaway leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, while Ncikazi believes the Tshwane giants are already home and dry.

“The gap is too big between Sundowns and us. It’s only Sundowns who can take out the league title out of their cabinet for competition, but I think the cup is already in their cabinet,’’ said the Bucs coach.  Ncikazi.

The Buccaneers in second place are 18 points behind Sundowns, and Hotto is of the view that the title race is still on.

“You have to believe. But, yes, coming to the Nedbank, it’s a cup where we want to go all the way and lift it,” said Hotto

“It [the league race] is not guaranteed yet. Definitely, yes [Pirates have a chance]. We must have the belief. It [Sundowns’ lead] looks unstoppable until it is unstoppable.

“To us, we still have the belief. Seventeen points is a bit difficult, but we’ll see at the end.”
