How All Stars coach is helping Pirates defender Thabiso Sesane grow his game
"He's one of the players we are proud of and he's doing very well."
All Stars head coach Sinethemba Badela has revealed how he is helping Orlando Pirates on-loan defender Thabiso Sesane grow his game in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
Thabiso Sesane penned a season-loan deal with the National First Division side, All Stars, at the beginning of the 2022/23 campaign following a similar stint at Jomo Cosmos.
At All Stars, Sesane, 22, is getting plenty of minutes and the club’s head coach Badela is very fond of the Soweto-born centre-back.
Badela says he has been working with Sesane for a while now and wants to improve the player’s game as he sees so much potential.
ALL STARS COACH BADELA ON SESANE’S POTENTIAL
Sesane was one of the outstanding players for All Stars despite losing 2-0 against Pirates in a Nedbank Cup last 32 clash at Wits Stadium on Saturday evening.
Badela has given his assessment of the promising centre-back and suggests he could even become a better player.
“We have to be very careful when it comes to [Thabiso] Sesane because he’s a young boy, and he’ll make mistakes,” said Badela.
“He’s been doing well, growing each and every game because he’s humble; he watches his game.
“And he tries to improve all the time, so we are helping him, and with him staying beyond the current season, it will be between Pirates and All Stars at the end of the season.
“Of course, we would like to keep him if there’s a possibility, but if Pirates feel like they need him, then there’s nothing we can do.
“He’s one of the players we are proud of, and he’s doing very well at the moment; he and [Ryan] Baartman have been amazing for us at centre-back.
LESSONS LEARNT PLAYING AGAINST PIRATES
Badela also discussed the lesson his team learnt from the Pirates’ loss and how it will help them intensify their push for automatic promotion to the DStv Premiership.
“We’ll take the positives; of course, we’ll look at only the positives. We did create chances, and we contained them,” he added.
“Our defensive shape was very good because it’s not easy to deal with [Monnapule] Saleng and [Deon] Hotto, a lot of teams struggle to deal with them.
“So we’ll take those positives and obviously our league is different compared to the Premiership.
“But we’ll take the positives because there were few very good performances from our side. We’ll try to win more matches and fight for promotion.
All Stars will return to league action in second tier seeking to return to winning ways when they face AmaTuks at Shoshanguve Giant Stadium on Sunday, 19 February.
