Folz explains how AmaZulu will approach games, starting with Pirates
New AmaZulu coach Romain Folz explains how his troops will approach games, starting with Orlando Pirates in a DStv Premiership clash on Friday night (19:30) at Orlando Stadium.
Folz says Usuthu will not give any opponent in the league special treatment as he is set to take charge in his first game as the KwaZulu-Natal side coach against Pirates.
The Frenchman, Folz took over from Brandon Truter, who parted ways with AmaZulu, citing personal reasons.
The young coach, Folz, penned a deal with AmaZulu until the end of the season, and Sandile Zungu made it clear that he wants to see good results and a trophy at the end of the season.
Usuthu are enduring a poor run of form as they have failed to record a win in their last five league matches. In their most recent game, they lost to Richards Bay, which saw Truter resign.
Folz arrived in Durban on Monday and said his Usuthu men will not be treating Pirates special.
FOLZ SPEAKS
“As much as some teams are special, I treat all the clubs the same. We will have the same approach, no matter whom we come up against, either Maritzburg United or Orlando Pirates,” Folz told the media.
“I would have loved to have more days, but I had four days to prepare for the game; we need three points; we don’t have time; we can play any day.”
The 32-year-old coach also shared his philosophy and the way he wants AmaZulu to play as they look to get maximum points against the Soweto giants, who are winless in the last two league games.
“I have my own philosophy if you watched my previous teams, for example, Marumo Gallants,” he added.
“We know what to do when we do not have a ball, how to regain it and when we have the ball, we are very effective on transition play.
“I believe the formation you use depends on the profile of the players you have; I’m not coming here to play a certain system, but it depends on the squad.
