How Folz intends to help Mhango after Pirates display

AmaZulu coach Romain Folz has laid out how he intends to help Gabadinho Mhango pick up his performances after a subdued display against Orlando Pirates in the MTN8 final on Saturday.

Folz felt the striker could have done better and given a better performance. Mhango was facing his former club, Pirates, for the first time since his exit from the Soweto giants.

He, however, failed to make an impact. This led him to be substituted and replaced by Dumisani Zuma just before the hour mark.

“When it comes to Gaba [Gabadinho Mhango], he could have done better, but he’s not the only one. He can definitely do much better than what he did tonight [Saturday],” Folz told the media.

“I don’t think it was a matter of knowing how to contain him or dealing with him. I think we were not dynamic enough.”

Folz revealed he will use the FIFA International break to help Mhango and the rest of his squad to improve.

The aim is to make sure the whole team is in the right direction when the league resumes after the World Cup.

“There are other points that we need to work on during the [FIFA International] break. I’m expecting him to develop himself in those departments and come back to help us much more when the league resumes.

“There are a lot of things we need to work on during that break. It’s going to be useful for us that we out everything on the table and start from scratch on many departments,” Folz added.

Mhango has been key for Usuthu since making a switch from the Soweto giants during the transfer window. So far, he has scored five goals and provided one assist in 13 matches in all competitions.
