Sundowns star on his worst season

Mamelodi Sundowns defender Rivaldo Coetzee says the 2021/22 was his worst after suffering a long-term injury that kept him on the sidelines for a greater part of the second half of the season.

The 25-year-old managed to make 14 league appearances in the just ended season, registering a goal succumbing to hernia injury in March.

“For me personally it wasn’t one of my best seasons. I started off the season well but I think towards the middle of the season just before my injury, the performance dropped a little bit for me and that’s how I feel,” Coetzee told the club’s media.

“But obviously scoring a goal it’s always something that you want to do for your team and lucky for me I could get one goal this season.”

The former Cape Town Spurs player revealed that the main focus right now is to fully recover and get back to what he does best in the field of play.

“My off-season won’t be much of an off-season, because I essentially had an two month break whilst the guys were finishing up the season. The main focus for me will be to get back on and starting to take my rehab to the next level so that I can be ready when the team returns for pre-season.”
