On Friday late night, in front of full crowds for the first time since the COVID-19 outbreak, the defending champions will go head-to-head against Cape Town City away from home.

Bafana Ba Style will need to be at their best to continue where they left off last season and will do anything to send a strong message out of this game to show that they are still the kings of South African football top-flight, whereas the Citizens had a fantastic run in the last campaign, finishing second and earning the Caf Champions League spot.

Newly promoted Richards Bay open the 2021/2022 season at the Princess Magogo Stadium to arch-rivals Golden Arrows in the KwaZulu-Natal derby. The newcomers will need to be at their best to make a bold statement that they have arrived, and they’re in the DStv Premiership to stay.

Kaizer Chiefs will get the new term underway on Saturday evening travelling to Chatsworth Stadium to face Royal AM. Amakhosi will look to challenge the PSL title under the new leadership of Arthur Zwane, whom a lot is expected from him to end the trophy drought at Naturena.

Swallows will make a short trip to Orlando Stadium to lock horns with Orlando Pirates in the original Soweto Derby, and a new era at Bucs gets underway when Jose Riveiro takes charge of his team’s first league match with more potent attacking prowess to cause an upset for the relegation survivors.

However, the Glamour Boys and the Sea Robbers are expected to fight it out for their loyal fans and make them happy, having bolstered their squads with some valuable and experienced players.

Other clubs haven’t broken the to bring high-quality players but are expected to fight it out for some silverware.
