It’s sad to see Nascimento leave – Onyango

Mamelodi Sundowns number one goalkeeper Denis Onyango has opened up on the departure of long-serving defender Ricardo Nascimento.

Nascimento’s six-year stay at Masandawana came to an end last month.

The Brazilian leaves with over 139 appearances for the club in all competitions, which includes the 2016 CAF Champions League title.

“On the issue of Nascimento it’s said that he has left the club but it’s football players and coaches leave and the club moves on,” Onyango told the media ahead of the CAF Champions League match against AL Hilal on Friday.

“We are going to miss him a lot, but there is also cover because we have a lot of new players that have come through, they have done the job.

“We have Mosa (Lebusa), who can also play as left centre back, Rushine (De Reuck), Brian (Onyango), so we do have cover. It’s unfortunate that he has left the club but I believe we have cover in that aspect of the centre backs.”
