John Maduka ‘speaks out’ on Maritzburg United dismissal

John Maduka has reportedly described his recent dismissal at Maritzburg United as normal in the unforgiving football business.

A close friend Benjamin Nyirenda told FARPost Maduka had taken his sacking in his stride and is moving on.

“He says he is not worried. This is the nature of the job, and he is just believing in God that something will come up. I have been speaking to him,” Nyirenda tells FARPost.

FARPost was unable to verify with Maduka himself the version given by the journalist-friend Nyirenda.

Maritzburg parted ways with the former Royal AM mentor after a run of indifferent results in the DStv Premiership.

The Malawian coach left Maritzburg after managing two wins, five draws and six losses. The Team of Choice anchors the log table after 13 games played.

FADLU DAVIDS SECOND HOMECOMING

The KwaZulu Natal-based team has since re-appointed Fadlu Davids. He previously served the team as a player, assistant coach and head coach.

Davids was jobless after leaving FC Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. His previous job was with Orlando Pirates, where he worked as a co-coach with Mandla Ncikazi.

Maduka came to Maritzburg with a big reputation following his decent showing at Bloemfontein Celtic and Royal AM.

The former Celtic skipper steered Royal AM to a third-place finish. Royal AM’s feat paved the way for the Durban-based team’s participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Royal AM impressed on their debut in the second-tier continental competition as they sailed past two rounds after beating Mbabane Highlanders of Eswatini and Zesco from Zambia.

However, Royal AM met their match as they lost 3-0 on aggregate to TP Mazembe of Congo.
