Judas Moseamedi and Maritzburg United reunion on the cards?

Judas Moseamedi looks set to return to his former club Maritzburg United ahead of the resumption of the DStv Premiership later this month, FARPost can reveal.

The bulky striker, Moseamedi, is a free agent after parting ways with Stellenbosch on Tuesday, 06 December.

The 28-year-old joined Stellenbosch in 2021 from Maritzburg and walked straight into Steve Barker’s side’s starting line-up as he featured in 26 games in all competitions.

However, Moseamedi struggled to find his goal-scoring boots as he only scored six goals and provided one assist for Stellies last campaign.

LACK OF GAME TIME

And before being shown the exit door, Moseamedi didn’t enjoy much game time this season at the Winelands outfit.

He made six appearances out of the 14 matches Stellies have played in the 2022/23 season.

“Stellenbosch FC can confirm that we have come to a mutual agreement with Judas Moseamedi for the early termination of his contract.

“Judas scoredsix6 goals in 32 appearances during his time at the club. We thank Judas and wish him well,” reads the club statement.

According to FARPost sources, Moseamedi has already attracted interest in South Africa’s top flight, with Maritzburg keen on reuniting with the forward. They are under new coach Fadlu Davids, who replaced John Maduka.

“Moseamedi got the news that he was getting released at Stellenbosch end of November, and he started training with Richards Bay,” the insider revealed.

“He was at Richards Bay last week and trained with the club for two days, hoping to impress the technical team.

“However, he received a call from Maritzburg United’s chairman Maritzburg United chairman Farook Kadodia at the weekend as Davids is fond of the player.

“He started training with Maritzburg some time this week. The club knows him well as he has played for them and did well.”

In his first stint at the Team of Choice, Moseamedi featured in over 70 games, scoring 15 games with three assists.

He was also on the books of Cape Town City, where he won the Telkom Knockout and the now-defunct Free State Stars.
