Justine Shonga reflects on his Sekhukhune debut
Newly signed Sekhukhune United striker Justin Shonga admits it has been a struggle to settle in at his previous clubs but he is grateful for the opportunity at his new club.
The Zambian international marked his debut for Babina Noko with a goal during the 4-0 win against struggling Baroka at Ellis Park on Sunday evening.
Sekhukhune is Shonga’s fourth club in a space of three years after short stints at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Cape Town City and Ismaily (Egypt).
“It’s a good feeling and a good start for me because football wise, I have been struggling to settle in at teams,” said the 25-year-old.
“But I would say it’s a good start and I just want to keep the momentum because when you have just arrived at a new club you need to adapt to the way they play.
“You have to work extra hard for you to put yourselves in the starting eleven. You have to push yourself hard so I am going to keep pushing hard and I am so happy for the start and I will keep going,” he said.
The goal on Sunday was also his first since November 2020, ironically against Baroka in a DStv Premiership match while he was still at TTM.
