Katlego Mashego’s advice to Sundowns rising star Cassius Mailula
Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Katlego Mashego has sent a message of advice to the club’s rising star Cassius Mailula.
Mashego urges the starlet, Mailula to keep on working hard and be professional if he wants to make a career out of football.
Mailula has hit the ground running since making his DStv Premiership debut this season.
In six matches in all competitions, the 21-year-old has found the back of the net three times and provided one assist.
Mailula’s red-hot form led him to become a regular under head coach Rulani Mokwena.
MASHEGO’S ADVICE TO CASSIUS MAILULA
“I will say to him if he wants to make a career out of this thing, he must go for it and behave as a professional footballer,” Mashego told FARPost.
“I’m sure by now he knows what things to do and not to do. If he knows what he wants, by all means he should make a career out of it.
“If he decides he wants to play and make a career of this thing then he has to do it. But if he’s there to please someone or do someone a favour, then that’s a complete different story.”
Mashego further outlined a common problem retired footballers have as they attempt to advice upcoming youngsters.
“The problem is we [legends] always want to advice these young ones how to do things. But themselves they don’t know what they want to do.
“Sometimes we want to advice them not to do bad things not knowing what they really want,” he added.
In-form Mailula is expected to continue his great form in front of goal when Masandawana host rivals Orlando Pirates on 30 December at Loftus Versfeld is at 17:30.
Pirates is a side Mailula last scored a brace against during the Carling Black Label Cup final in November.
