Klate names TS Galaxy star Chippa should watch

Chippa United coach Daine Klate has named Sbusiso Vilakazi as a player his charges should watch out for ahead of their DStv Premiership encounter against TS Galaxy on Wednesday evening.

Klate knows the former Bidvest Wits and Mamelodi Sundowns star from their time together at The Students.

He is wary of the threat posed by his former teammate and warns his charges that the 32-year-old can destroy them if not dealt with.

‘Villa’ joined The Rockets during the transfer window as a free agent after he was released by Mamelodi Sundowns.

He has settled very well and hit the ground running at his new home.

The 2013/14 player of the season has featured in all Galaxy’s four matches so far and has helped the team pick good results.

The Mpumalanga outfit is one of the teams still unbeaten in 2022/23 campaign with two wins and two draws. They are the only team yet to concede a goal also.

“We studying them and we are watching their videos. We know their players; Sbusiso Vilakazi.

“He’s got experience, I played with him at Wits. He’s a very intelligent player and has brought a lot for TS Galaxy,” Klate told the club media.

The 37-year-old coach is also aware of the impact former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana striker Bernard Parker could have on their opponents.

“They signed [Bernard] Parker as well, they got a few big names that they’ve brought in. We need to be wary about that.”

The former Orlando Pirates star further revealed that they will take the game to their opponents without any fear to come out victorious.

“We looking at them seeing their strengths and weaknesses, then we will plan accordingly. Obviously, we respect them, but I don’t think we should fear them.”

“For the most part, when we score in every match, we need to keep a cleansheet. That’s how we’re going to work on Wednesday. To try and keep a cleansheet and defend properly.”

Both teams will be aiming to get back to winning ways. The hosts are coming from a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Maritzburg United.

On the other hand, Mpumalanga outfit were held to a goalless draw by struggling Golden Arrows.

Kickoff at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium is at 19:30.
