Klate wants to make NMB a fortress

Chippa United coach Daine Klate says he wants to make the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium a fortress for the club starting on Wednesday when they host TS Galaxy in a DStv Premiership encounter.

The Chilli Boys have not won a single game at the stadium for two years. All their matches ended in draws and defeats.

The only home venue where they have collected maximum points in the past seasons is at Sisa Dukashe Stadium.

Last season, caretaker coach Kurt Lentjies tried to end the winless streak but did not succeed. The man in charge this season, Klate, vows to make their home ground a difficult place for their opponents to come and collect points from them.

“We have to make our home a fortress. We have to turn the stadium into a difficult place for teams to get points. We can’t give points away when we playing at home. I think we need to instil that philosophy and mentality,” said Klate.

“Each time we have a home game, the aim must be to get three points. Out of the 15 [home] matches, we should be winning more games than losing and drawing.”

“We must take full advantage. Hopefully, we can dominate football matches at home and get three points, get more victories at home.”

The former Orlando Pirates and Bidvest Wits star stated that being dominant at home is their primary objective this season.

“[Winning more games at home] That’s the main aim of the season, and hopefully, on Wednesday, we can rectify that and get a victory.”

“When we home, I think we should stamp authority. Maritzburg did it at home. They scored, hopefully, we can do the same dominate and win football matches at home,” Klate added.

The Gqeberha outfit hosts a tricky TS Galaxy at NMB, who are yet to taste defeat and concede a goal this season. Kick off is at 19:30.
