Latest on Andile Jali’s Sundowns contract issue
The representatives of Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Andile Jali have given an update on the player’s contract issue.
Jali’s management team confirmed that there are clubs, both locally and abroad, who are keen to land the player’s signature. The 32-year-old’s contract will run out at the end of June 2023.
‘AJ15’, as he is widely known, will be able to sign a pre-contract agreement with a club of his choice when he enters the final six months of his contract unless he soon renews his contract with the Brazilians.
ANDILE JALI CONTRACT TALKS
However, Jali’s agent Mike Makaab has confirmed to FARPost that they have begun contract extension talks with Masandawana.
Makaab, who is the former Orlando Pirates coach, also says both parties are willing to prolong their relationship.
While the Prosport International CEO confirmed that there are clubs that are eyeing Jali, he didn’t reveal the names.
“Yes, there is an interest from both local and clubs abroad,” Makaab confirmed to FARPost.
The Matatiele-born joined Bafana Ba Style as a free agent in 2018 after parting company with the Belgian outfit KV Oostende.
In the early stages of his stint with the Tshwane giants, he struggled somewhat to claim a spot in the starting lineup under the leadership of Pitso Mosimane.
STANDOUT PLAYER
However, the former Buccaneers man has been one of the standout players for the DStv Premiership champions in the past three campaigns.
Jali was among the biggest winners in the Premier Soccer League Awards last season, scooping MTN8 Last Man Standing, Nedbank Cup Player of the Tournament, and DStv Premiership Midfielder of the Season.
So far, he has made 10 appearances across all competitions in this campaign but has yet to rattle the back of the net.
