Limpopo working hard to bring Sekhukhune back

The Limpopo Provincial Government has reiterated their stance to bring back Sekhukhune United to play their DStv Premiership matches in the province.

Sekhukhune is now based in Ellis Park, Johannesburg, after failing to secure a venue that meets PSL standards within the province.
The club wants to host their matches strictly within the Sekhukhune District, where their Chairman Simon Malatji hails from.

Speaking during the clubs’ tour to the Province this past weekend, MEC for Sport, Arts and Culture Thandi Moraka said the government had already started implementing some of the requirements to renovate the existing facilities within the Sekhukhune area.

“We are fully behind you, and we are going to give you the necessary support that you need for you to continue to make us proud as a Province,” said Moraka.

“We know that you are in Gauteng not by choice but because we don’t have the facilities that meet the PS standards in the Sekhukhune area where you want to be based.

“We are working around the clock together with the Sekhukhune District Municipality and Fetakgomo Tubatse to bring you back home because you are a team that originates from Limpopo,” she added.

“So, rest assured, Chairperson, the issues that we have discussed have already started to be implemented to make sure that we build a facility that will make you host matches in the province of Limpopo.”
