Makaab slams SuperSport’s treatment of Mbule

Sipho Mbule’s agent, Mike Makaab, didn’t pull any punches after learning about his client’s suspension by SuperSport United through the media.

Makaab said he is ‘saddened’ with SuperSport’s handling of the issue between the club and Mbule.

Mbule was recently suspended by the Tshwane giants, with CEO Stan Matthews considering the wantaway midfielder’s behaviour as “disrespectful” towards his teammates and the technical team.

“I’ve come under a lot of criticism for not responding to what Stan Matthews has said,” Makaab, the managing director of Prosport international, told Gagasi FM.

“I don’t respond when I haven’t got my facts in order. I’m collecting all the facts relating to the suspension.

“I can also tell you, I’m also disappointed that he was brought back into the fold and played for 10 minutes and was never seen again, and that was way before the suspension.”

Ever since Mbule was linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs during the January transfer window, his relationship with Matsatsantsa seems to be in decline as the 24-year-old has only featured once this year for the club, with reports stating that he is not happy that his move away from Tshwane failed to materialise in January.

However, his contract expires at the end of the current season, and Makaab believes SuperSport should be handling the issue better.

“In certain parts of the world, what saddens me is that when a player doesn’t renew his contract and when a player comes to the end of his contract… And yes, SuperSport have an option to exercise by the end of May. Instead of working with the player in terms of getting the best out of him, we seem to sideline him,” he concluded.
