Makhubedu not worried by Sekhukhune’s goal drought

Sekhukhune United co-coach MacDonald Makhubedu says they are not worried about the team’s lack of goals. This comes after they stretched their goal drought to five games (three losses and two draws) following a nil-all draw with AmaZulu on Saturday in the DStv Premiership.

The former Baroka coach revealed that they have faith in their strikers and will start finding the back of the net with two games left to finish the season.

“We must keep on working hard. We got good goal scorers Vusimuzi Mncube, Chibuike Ohizu and Justin Shonga. It’s just a matter of luck,” Makhubedu said.

“I think we’ll get it right because we work more on our finishing and keep working more. We are very patient with them; they’ve done well for us before.”

The coach praised his defence as they fought hard to ensure that a clean sheet was kept after a series of attacks by Usuthu.

“It was a tough game; I’m happy for the boys and the performance. In the last 10 minutes, they came at us and threw everything inside the box, but our defence stood firm. I’m happy for the point in Durban; it’s a valuable point against a big team,” he concluded.

The stalemate saw Babina Noko move to 10th on the log whilst Usuthu remained seventh as they cemented their place in the top eight. Sekhukhune have two games left to start banging goals before the season ends. They face Kaizer Chiefs at home and travel to Marumo Gallants as they wrap up their first season in the topflight.
