Maleseala’s gallant warning to players: I will hammer them

Coach Dan ‘Dance’ Malesela has vowed to hammer or grill his Marumo Gallants players ahead of Saturday’s clash against Cape Town City.

Malesela said this in reaction to what he feels is the players’ casual approach to DStv Premiership games.

“We only have two games left for this year and it will be a tough… I will hammer them. We have to get ourselves away from where we are,” he told SuperSport TV.

He said the going was getting tough for Gallants and need to return to winning ways starting with Cape Town City.

The former Orlando Pirates defender then slammed what he felt is the mismatch in the team’s training intensity from actual game performance.

DAN NOT A HAPPY MAN…

“I have a situation where we look beautiful in training and when it comes to the games, we look like we are playing for fun,” he said.

“We need to emphasize the importance of three points. We need a lot more urgency in wanting to score.”

Malisela added: “They just need to be hammered to be told what to do… they will get a hammering from me, they just need to be hammered.”

Dance delivered the warning after Gallants’ goalless draw against AmaZulu on Wednesday evening.

Man-of-the match Katlego Otladisa admitted in an interview with SuperSport TV that they are not clinical upfront.

“We are struggling to convert our chances. It has been our big great problem since we started the season,” he said.

MARUMO SHOOTING BLANKS

“We gave to be clinical from I think my point of view. We have been trying and trying, hopefully we will get it right.”

Gallants have struggled even after the return of Malisela as they have hardly won.

Gallants are up against the Citizens who are high on confidence after beating Chippa United during the week.

The Eric Tinkler’s men became the first team to end the four-game unbeaten run of Morgan Mammila as Chippa caretaker coach.
