Marumo Gallants head coach Dan Malesela believes there are players within his squad who have done enough to earn a Bafana Bafana call-up.
South Africa are set to begin their 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier at Moulay Abdellah Sports Complex against Morocco on 9 June.
Hugo Broos is expected to announce the final squad on Thursday to take on the ‘Atlas Lions’.
Speaking to the media in Polokwane ahead of the Nedbank Cup final clash against Mamelodi Sundowns at Royal Bafokeng Stadium on Saturday, Malesela feels the way the club has been playing at least one of the players deserves a nod.
“With how we play, I was shocked that even one of our players has not made the preliminary of the national team,” said Malesela.
“So, it’s not me who chooses, but I feel we have players who deserve that shot, but you never know people think what they think, but with the Nedbank, I am hoping that one of us can bring something besides King Ndlovu. (Ndlovu is nominated for the Nedbank Cup Player of the tournament).”
