Marumo explain Romain Folz’s whereabouts
Marumo Gallants chairman Abram Sello has provided an explanation for coach Romain Folz’s absence during their 1-all draw against Swallows FC in the DStv Premiership encounter at the New Peter Mokaba Stadium on Sunday afternoon.
The Frenchman has of course endured something of a nightmare since the start of the new campaign as Marumo are yet to taste a win in the top-flight.
According to weekend reports, the 31-year-old mentor tendered his resignation before the game, but the club chairman insists that Folz is still part of the technical team.
“There is nothing to explain. I was with him (Romain Folz) this morning and expected him to come here (for the match) but I was told he is not here due to unforseen personal reasons,” the Marumo chairman told the media.
“As to whether what contingency plan my technical team did I’m not sure, unfortunately I’m the chairman and I can’t interfere with technical issues.
“On the day of the game we don’t really talk. We had the whole week to talk, we had the whole morning to talk until we cut it off at 11:00am.
“I expect him to be at work tomorrow morning.”
During the week, Folz had revealed how he is desperate to turn the tide and end their winless streak in the DStv Premiership but in a turn of events, he was nowhere to be seen on the touchline yesterday.
As things stand, Marumo are placed 14th on the log standings with five points after six matches.
