Msimango believes Chiefs upset can spark league momentum
TS Galaxy defender Given Msimango says they are not taking the Nedbank Cup lightly ahead of Saturday evening’s tie against Kaizer Chiefs.
The Rockets face Amakhosi in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32 at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.
Galaxy are in a precarious position in the PSL, anchoring the table, and Msimango says the temptation is to put more focus into their fight for survival.
They have amassed 13 points from 17 games in the league and are faced with a fierce relegation battle. However, Msimango believes a good performance and win will give them good momentum when league action returns next week.
“We’re looking forward to the game; it’s a much-anticipated game. We’ve been working hard towards the game.
“We’re not undermining the cup thinking we’re gonna focus on the league only,” Msimango told FARPost.
In 2018, Galaxy, then in the National First Division, won the final against Amakhosi to deny their more illustrious opponents the prestigious trophy.
Msimango vowed they would approach the game like any other encounter with the mindset to win.
“It’s just another game that we need to go out and win,” he said.
