Nedbank Cup quarterfinal dates and venues confirmed

The Nedbank Cup 2023 will continue next month with the dates, venues and kick-off times for the much-anticipated quarterfinal encounters revealed by the PSL.

On Tuesday, 28 March, the PSL announced that the Nedbank quarterfinal matches will be staged on the weekend of 15 and 16 April 2023.

The last eight games will start on April 15 when giant-killers Dondol Stars tackle the two-time Nedbank Cup champions Orlando Pirates at Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane. The game is set to start at 3pm.

Dondol Stars, campaigning in the ABC Motsepe League, are enjoying a good run in the Nedbank Cup. They have knocked out big teams such as SuperSport United and AmaZulu with their eye-catching and exciting brand of football.

The Mamelodi-based side is the only non-PSL side left in the competition. And by virtue of advancing to the quarterfinals, they will pocket R400 000.

SUNDOWNS TO TRAVEL TO ATHLONE STADIUM

On the very same day in the evening [Saturday], defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns will travel to Athlone Stadium to play against Stellenbosch FC. The mouthwatering match is expected to get underway at 6pm.

There will be two clashes the next day, 16 April, on Sunday. The 2021 runners-up Chippa United and first-time quarterfinalists Sekhukhune United will lock horns. They will play at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in Qqeberha, with kickoff set for 3pm.

In the last fixture of the Nedbank Cup quarterfinals, Kaizer Chiefs, the 2013 champions, will play against the 2022 semifinalists Royal AM. The game, which promises to be a thriller, is scheduled to start at 6pm.

The teams who reach the semifinal round will take home R1-million. And the teams who will play in the final are set to pocket R2.5m, and the winner is guaranteed R7m.

“Tickets will be sold at TicketPro outlets countrywide including Spar, BP, Caltex, Sasol, Shell, and Total fuel stations. They will cost R60 per ticket,” said the PSL in a statement.

PSL has announced dates, venues, and kick-off times for next month’s Nedbank Cup quarterfinal fixtures.
