Orlando Pirates goalie singles CT City match as his best

Orlando Pirates goalkeeper Sipho Chaine has singled out their match against Cape Town City in the DStv Premiership as his best in the club’s colours.

This was Chaine’s first match for the Soweto giants after completing a move from Chippa United during the January transfer window.

He was the preferred man in between the sticks with Richard Ofori injured and Siyabonga Mpontshane lacking consisntency.

SIPHO CHAINE ON HIS ORLANDO PIRATES DEBUT

Chaine believes he had a good debut, however he was unlucky as his side lost 2-1 after they had taken a lead early in the game.

“I believe it’s one of the good games that I’ve played [for Orlando Pirates] even though we lost. I played a really good game, I was happy with myself but you can’t be happy losing a game,” Chaine told the club’s media department.

“Going to the game, mentally I would say I was ready, but you never quite ready. Had to remain focused and do what I know, what I can and not try complicate things because it’s your first game at a club like Orlando Pirates.

“I just went to it trying to prove myself right because it’s not really about what anyone else says about you. It was the chance for me to show myself that you really can. Otherwise coming back and looking back at Cape Town it was a good experience apart from the loss.”

DIFFICULT MATCH

Chaine further revealed why his debut was not easy for him.

When playing for a big club like Pirates, the expectations are always high to perform, there is no time of settling down and adapting.

“It wasn’t really easy going into the game, the expectations from anyone, from the coaches, from the players and more especially from the fans.

“Started first half very good, felt really nice with the fans, with everyone, the experience was very nice. Second half we ended losing a game, you don’t prepare for such moments as a player when things start off good, as the game goes on it goes south,” Chaine added.

To date, Chaine has made eight appearances for the Bucs and kept only two cleansheets.
