Orlando Pirates secure signature of Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou

Orlando Pirates have snatched the signature of Cameroonian striker Souaibou Marou.

The 22-year-old frontman joins the Sea Robbers from Cameroon’s top-flight side, Coton Sport

The deal will see Marou stay at DStv Premiership side Pirates until 2025.

In recent weeks, the Cameroonian international has been heavily linked with a move to the Soweto giants and finally the Buccaneers’ fans will happy to him at the club with hope of helping them solve their goalscoring problems.

The club further stated that the deal between the two parties was concluded yesterday afternoon, and Marou will “join his new teammates this morning.”

However, the player is unlikely to make his debut when Pirates take on Stellenbosch on Sunday as his paperwork are yet to be finalised.

Marou managed to win two league titles with Coton Sport during his three-year stay at the club.

He also scored three goals in the Caf Champions League goals this season.

To put a cherry on top, the talented forward was also named the 2022 Player of the Season.

Following his stellar performance in his domestic league, Marou was selected to form part of the Cameroon squad that participated in the 2022 FIFA World Cup held in Qatar.

The highly-rated goal poacher joins his fellow countryman forward Bienvenu Eva Nga at the Happy People.

Marou seem to be a direct replacement for Kwame Peprah, who recently joined Maritzburg United on a loan.

FANS REACTION

One fan tweeted: “I’m from Cameroon, trust me when I say this guy is a combination of Haaland, Ronaldo, Messi, Ronaldinho, Mbappe, Neymar and Benzema in one!!.. What a signing!!

Another one added: “I will judge you on the field of play, Welcome!!!! better not pull the Eva Nga on us.”
