Orlando Pirates to make U-turn on Terrence Dzvukamanja?

"Well there's a possibility that Terrence [Dzvukamanja] might remain at Pirates."

DStv Premiership giants Orlando Pirates look set to make a U-turn on offloading attacker Terrence Dzvukamanja in the current January transfer window.

Dzvukamanja has been one of the fringe players in the Pirates squad and was said to be on his way out.

Unhappy by his client’s lack of game time, Dzvukamanja’s agent, Mike Makaab of Prosport International, told this publication last week that he is working on getting the Zimbabwean international a contract elsewhere.

However, indications are that the Soweto giants are contemplating keeping Dzvukamanja beyond the current transfer window.

TERRENCE DZVUKAMANJA GIVEN LIFELINE

“Well, there’s a possibility that Terrence [Dzvukamanja] might remain at Pirates,” Makaab told FARPost.

“Obviously, he has been in the match day squad for the team this year, and the team might keep him,” he added.

The 28-year left-footed forward has come on as a second-half substitute in Pirates’ two previous encounters and scored a goal in Pirates’ 3-1 win over Golden Arrows in the league.

He looks to have done enough to impress the Buccaneers’ technical team. Dzvukamanja joined Pirates at the start of the 2020/21 DStv Premiership season from Bidvest Wits.

The Zimbabwean forward made 22 appearances in his maiden season at Pirates under then-coach Josef Zinnbauer.

However, since the arrival of head coach Jose Riveiro at the club ahead of the start of the 2022/23 campaign, Dzvukamanja has struggled for game time. The former Wits star faces stiff competition in the Pirates’ striking force.

Zakhele Lepasa, Kermit Erasmus, Beinvenu Eva Nga, Evidence Makgopa, Ndumiso Mabena, and newly signed Souaibou Marou form the team’s frontline.

Jose Riviero-coached team have been struggling to find a consistent winning formula in the league.

They have seemingly turned the corner after claiming back-to-back victories in the last two encounters.

Pirates claimed an emphatic 4-1 victory over Stellenbosch at Orlando Stadium on Sunday after.

The Houghton-based welcomed Golden Arrows at their fortress and beat them 3-1 last Saturday, prior to thrashing Stellies.

With Pirates having enough ammunition in the striking department and recently snapping up Souaibou Marou from Coton Sport in Cameroon.

It remains to be seen whether Dzvukamanja will stay with the Sea Robbers or move elsewhere to get more game time.
