Pirates fans, management deserve better – Ncikazi

Orlando Pirates co-coach Mandla Ncikazi admits the club’s supporters and management deserve better than what they have been offering as the technical team and players.

Despite the great run in the Caf Confederations Cup where they top group B, the Buccaneers were recently knocked out of the Nedbank Cup in the last 16 round.

They are fourth on the DStv Premiership log, 19 points behind rivals Mamelodi Sundowns.

Speaking after the 3-0 win over eSwatini side Royal Leopards at Orlando Stadium on Sunday, Ncikazi acknowledged the shortcomings, citing the lack of converting scoring chances as the main reason.

“I am feeling bad for the supporters; they deserve better. I am not happy for our management, they deserve better,” he said.

“But personally, as a coach, the day you get hired, you must be ready to be fired. I don’t think there is a coach in any league who is not under pressure and I am in the same boots.

“So I understand the pressure, frustrations of Pirates supporters. They want their team to be in a better state more than me. It’s about the frustration that they are going through.

“I wish I can change it so that it can be better it is what it is. We are just missing goals. I think we are one of those teams that are playing well, but we just miss the main part. So it’s not about me. It is about the supporters getting what they deserve,” concluded Ncikazi.
