Pirates’ Hotto singles out Chiefs duo as dangermen ahead of derby

Orlando Pirates winger Deon Hotto has singled out two Kaizer Chiefs players as the most dangerous opponents ahead of the much-anticipated Soweto derby on Saturday afternoon(15:30) at FNB Stadium in Soweto.

Chiefs have endured a dip in form as they are winless in their previous three matches in all competitions.

Interestingly, Pirates have hit top form and they are tipped as favourites to walk away with Soweto derby bragging rights in the DStv Premiership clash.

Despite claiming a convincing 3-0 victory against Mamelodi Sundowns in the MTN8 second leg semi-final last weekend, Hotto has warned his Pirates teammates about the lethal players in the Chiefs squad to watch out for.

THE CHIEFS DANGERMEN

“The nerves are high, even though Chiefs hasn’t been doing well and it’s a derby so it’s not about form,” Hotto told the media.

“It’s going to be a totally different ball game on Saturday.

“You can’t look at games they played in the past weeks where they didn’t get the results they wanted.

“It’s going to be a different Kaizer Chiefs, so we must not go out there thinking they drew with AmaZulu, and it’s going to be easy for us.

“I mean we have to be on our toes because Chiefs have good individual players.

“They have [Kgaugelo] Sekgota and Keagan Dolly but we know what to do against them,” added Hotto.

The Namibian international further lamented on playing in a different position under Jose Riveiro since the start of the the 2022/23 campaign.

“We have a new coach with new tactics and our coach plan according to the opponents,” he explained.

“I’m happy with playing as a wing back even though I played in attack in the past but it’s not about me.

“It’s about the team, as long as I’m giving something to the team and the coach is happy,”

The former Bidvest Wits star has made 11 appearances while scoring just one goal so far this season.

The Buccaneers will be looking to build on their winning momentum when they face Amakhosi who are in search of redemption to end their winless run in the league.
