PSL DEADLINE DAY: Lakay, Ndlondlo headline final moves

The Premier Soccer League transfer window officially shut on Thursday midnight. And as expected there were surprises on the night as teams were busy trying to sign players to bolster their squads.

So much of the important business had long been conducted in advance of the deadline.

FARPost looks at the deadline day transfers that made headlines before the window was shut.

Lyle Lakay

The fullback returned to his former club Cape Town City on a season long loan deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.

He returns to the Citizens four years after linking with Masandawana. Lakay had fallen out of favour at the Tshwane giants struggling for game time despite being the reigning Premiership Defender of the Season.

This campaign he has only made six appearances. The signing of Terrence Mashego from CT City further worsened the situation for Lakay.

Ndabayithethwa Ndlondlo

The midfield maestro joined Soweto giants, Orlando Pirates from Marumo Gallants. Ndlondlo played a huge role for Gallants last season, helping the team to reach the Nedbank Cup final.

He reunites with Miguel Timm who joined Pirates as a free agent from Gallants during the transfer window.

Abdelmounaim Boutouil

Mamelodi Sundowns finally announced the signing of Moroccan defender Abdelmounaim Boutouil.

He joins the Tshwane outfit on a five-year contract from Botola Pro side SCC Mohammedia.

Khethokwakhe Masuku

Former Orlando Pirates star Khethokwakhe Masuku found a new home on deadline day. He joined Motsepe Foundation Championship side La Masia.

The last time Masuku was playing for a PSL team it was 2017/18 season. He was at Marumo Gallants when they were in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

There won’t be much time for the last set of players on the go to acclimate to new surroundings as they will be expected to hit the ground running.
