PSL man to join Mamelodi Sundowns’ bloated technical team

Barely a week after Mamelodi Sundowns announced the addition of Michael Loftman to their already bloated technical team, another addition is on the cards.

Loftman, formerly with Orlando Pirates, the Egypt national team and Venda Football Academy, joined Mamelodi Sundowns as a set-piece coach earlier this week.

His arrival means Sundowns have over 20 technical team members. The London-born Loftman is in Cameroon with the South African champions as they prepare to play Coton Sport.

MAMELODI SUNDOWNS TO MAKE SURPRISE ANNOUNCEMENT

The Brazilians take on the Cameroonian side in their Group B match of the CAF Champions League at Roumde Adjia Stadium in Garoua on Friday night [6pm], looking for successive victories after they saw off Al-Hilal 1-0 last weekend.

Now, Sundowns look set to make a surprise appointment with a new addition to their already bloated technical team.

Thami Khuzwayo is set to join Sundowns in what could be an assistant team manager or assistant team liaison manager role.

The defending league champions have Kagiso Marumo and Peter Ndlovu as team liaison manager and team manager, respectively.

Khuzwayo is joining them from the PSL, where he previously served as a Competitions Manager. His experience will come in handy in the Brazilians’ office, who are eager to dominate local football on all fronts.

“Thami is joining Sundowns as an assistant manager. He’ll assist Peter [team manager] and Kagiso [the team liaison manager],” a source told FARPost.

BIGGEST STAFF COMPLIMENT

The Tshwane giants have the biggest staff compliment in the domestic league and have dominated in recent years.

Sandawana are on the verge of winning their sixth successive DStv Premiership title. They have amassed 55 points from 21 games.

Their points haul is 23 points ahead of second-placed SuperSport United, with just seven games to go.

For the next two weeks, Sundowns will not be active on the domestic as they shift focus to the Champions League.
