Ramahlwe Mphahlele pinpoints Chiefs’ weakness exploited by AmaZulu
AmaZulu defender Ramahlwe Mphahlele has identified one Kaizer Chiefs weakness that they capitalised on following an emphatic 4-0 victory at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Friday in the DStv Premiership.
Usuthu were on the front foot from the get-go, attacking in the match’s early stages.
The KZN side were clinical in front of goal whenever they got a goal-scoring opportunity. Dumisani Zuma, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Junior Dion and Bonginkosi Ntuli found the back of the net as the team ran riot.
For his superb performance during the entire match, Mphahlele was named the man of the match.
MPHAHLELE IDENTIFIES CHIEFS WEAKNESS
“It was a solid performance. The difference is that we took our chances. Two set pieces we knew, we’ve been watching them. They were a little bit shaky on set pieces,” said Mphahlele.
“I just told George [Maluleka], ‘just put a good delivery, then we will attack the ball’, and we managed to get two goals.
“From there, I think they got demoralised, and we capitalised from that. It was a good performance from the boys. Everybody worked very hard. We have to keep going.”
WHAT AMAZULU MUST FIX
Mphahlele stated one concern his team must fix if they want to be consistent and move up the table.
“I’m a little bit worried when we play the so-called middle teams. Whenever we play big teams, I sleep well. I am wary whenever we play the so-called smaller teams because we don’t bring the same mindset.
“I just hope this victory encourages them [players] that we approach every game with the same mentality like when we play Sundowns, Pirates and Chiefs,” he added.
The Friday night victory took the KZN outfit to the top half of the table. Romain Folz-led team are now fifth on the log after accumulating 21 points from 16 encounters.
On the other end, for Amakhosi, it’s back to the drawing board again. The Soweto giants have now lost back-to-back league matches. They are fourth with 24 points from 16 games.
