Pirates coach Riveiro points out TS Galaxy’s strengths
Orlando Pirates coach Jose Riveiro has pointed out TS Galaxy’s strength his charges should be aware of. The two sides meet at Orlando Stadium on Saturday for the DStv Premiership.
The Spaniard is aware of the strong defensive structure of their opponents.
The last time the two sides met in the league Galaxy were 1-0 victors, however Riveiro was not at the club by then. This time Riveiro will be gunning for three points.
The Mpumalanga outfit have had a good start to the season. The team have proved to be a difficult opponent to face suffering only one defeat and conceding one goal in seven matches. They shocked reigning DStv Premiership champions Mamelodi Sundowns 1-0.
On the other hand, the Buccaneers haven’t gelled well since the beginning of the season with a mixture of positive and negative results.
“They are very solid, they’ve been solid in their recent games, very difficult to score a goal against them. They are very discipled team in the 4-1-4-1 or 4-3-3 with all the players involved in the defensive phase,” Riveiro told the media.
“I think TS Galaxy use different types of approaches, sometimes defending in medium blocks, sometimes defending higher like last time against Cape Town City.”
Riveiro further admitted that playing TS Galaxy will be hard despite having home ground advantage.
“I don’t think [TS Galaxy] it’s a team that is going to identify themselves like a minor team. They’re going to come to Orlando probably to use their strengths, try to play for three points not just to play for a draw.
“It’s going to be an open game, hopefully with moments for both teams. As usual we’ll want to dominate the game as much as possible and have a victory for our fans. They got dangerous players outside, wingers, very attacking minded difficult team in the set pieces,” Riveiro added.
Kickoff at Orlando Stadium is at 17:30.
