Romain Folz has signed a three-year contract extension with AmaZulu that will keep him at the club until 2026.
Folz’s current contract was set to run out at the end of the current DStv Premiership season, but he has done enough to impress the Sandile Zungu-led management, who trust him for the future.
The 32-year-old’s new contract will only start on 01 July and come to an end on 30 June 2026.
‘Fohloza’, as he’s widely known, joined AmaZulu in October last year following the departure of Brandon Truter.
He led the club to the MTN8 final where they lost 1-0 to Orlando Pirates at Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban in November.
This was AmaZulu’s first final since 2010 when they suffered a 3-0 loss at the hands of the now-defunct Bidvest Wits in the Nedbank Cup final.
The club’s president Sandile Zungu has appealed to the AmaZulu faithful to support the French-Moroccan.

“Club President, Sandile Zungu has called upon the Usuthu faithful to throw their weight behind the French-cum-Moroccan tactician and his charges as they look to stabilize and build for future success,” the statement reads.
Zungu says Folz understands their vision for 2032, and their objective to finish in the top four is possible under his leadership.
“We felt it was important to build and put stability into the team with hundred percent support on the Head Coach,” Zungu said as per the club’s website.
“Fohloza understands and buys into our vision for 2032. Not only do we believe he will take us there, even our objective of Top 4 finish and qualifying for one of the CAF competitions is very much viable under his guidance.”
In 13 games he has overseen at the KZN outfit, Folz has won three, drawn eight and lost two.
