Sekhukhune United star ruled out for the rest of the season

A Sekhukhune United star has been ruled out for the remainder of the season if coach Brandon Truter’s comments are anything to go by.

Babina Noko have made some big names signing at the beginning of the season as well as recently with the capture of Bafana Bafana midfielder Kamohelo Mokotjo. Despite the slow start to the PSL season and the subsequent firing of coach Kaitano Tembo, the club has picked up some great form. This includes securing a Nedbank Cup quarterfinal spot and improving their log position.

WHY SEKHUKHUNE UNITED STAR IS RULED OUT

But the club might have to do without club captain Linda Mntambo. The former Orlando Pirates player has been struggling with injuries this season. He missed some games after the resumption of the league in December but returned to action in February.

He last featured during the 6-0 win against minnows Liver Brothers in the Nedbank Cup on 8 February.

According to Truter, it would be to Mntambo’s benefit to sit out the rest of the season.

“Linda [Mntambo] still has a long-term injury,” Truter revealed to the media.

“We very much doubt that he will be available for the rest of the season. Yes, he is working hard on his fitness and everything. But rushing him back, like we did against Gallants, and he broke down again.

“For his career, I think it would be to his benefit to take his time and really make sure that he is fully healed before he returns.”

TSHEGOFATSO MABASA SITUATION

Another player who has struggled for game time recently is Orlando Pirates loanee Tshegofatso Mabasa. Mabasa only featured twice this year, against Stellenbosch in January and came in as a substitute against Royal AM earlier this month.

But Truter maintains it’s difficult to change his front three, who have been in scoring form recently.
