Stop spreading lies about me, Malesela hits out at Marumo
The marriage between Marumo Gallants and outgoing coach Dan Malesela has hit rock bottom, with the latter sending a strong warning to the club to stop spreading lies about him.
Malesela recently parted ways with Gallants after the club opted not to renew his contract, which comes to an end this month.
The decision shook the football fraternity, given what the 56-year-old has achieved at the club that was one of the relegation candidates.
Speaking to FARPost on the sidelines of the ABC Motsepe League national playoffs at the North-West University in Potchefstroom, Malesela said some people at the Limpopo club want to tarnish his image.
“To be honest, I also don’t know why they are doing this. All the rumours I hear, some of which are very big lies,” he said.
“Maybe it’s somebody trying to create something so that I can move away from the club. I am so disappointed, like a lot of people who called me from Limpopo and Polokwane. They are so angry about this whole thing because it doesn’t even have an explanation.
“If you probably get an explanation, it would just be lies. But life goes on. The one thing that worries me, I will not say it because it is not a good thing. What I heard was the reason for me it was a big lie because things were the other way round.
“I speak in parables because I don’t want to go deep into this. If that is the case, then people must be careful with the things that they say. If you say things, you must be careful that there are no repercussions,” added a visibly disappointed Malesela, who took the club to a 10th position finish last season.
“Things could end up being bigger than what you think they are because if it’s affecting somebody else’s career, then it’s something else because this could affect my career if it were to come out as true.
“Obviously, it’s not true, and I will let it go because I think there are a lot of people at the club who need to learn how to operate in this game.”
FARPost can reveal that the lies Dan Malesela is referring to are match-fixing accusations relating to a club that was bitterly fighting relegation. An allegation that no one ever proved, and the former Chippa United coach believes it was part of the plan to get rid of him by those who didn’t want him at the club.
